The Gala Dinner took placeat the NJV Athens Plaza Hotel, on Friday, January 19th, 2007 and it was organized by ALBA Alumni Association and INSEAD Alumni Association of Greece, in collaboration with ALBA Graduate Business School. The esteemed guest speaker was Dr. Takis Athanasopoulos, Senior Executive Advisor at Toyota Motor Europe, Professor Emeritus at University of Piraeus. Dr. Athanasopoulos explained to the participants, the “Toyota Way Competency Matrix”, the “Toyota Way” values and its application to different corporate environments.

Curriculum Vitae of Dr. Takis Athanasopoulos:


Dr. Athanasopoulos completed his studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, a Masters in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Business and Economics.

Dr. Athanasopoulos has vast professional and academic experience.  He taught at Loyola University of Chicago and at Wright State University in Ohio, where he was also Associate Dean for the academic and research programs of the School of Business Administration.

In 1981 he returned to Greece as the Chaired Professor of Business and Economics at the University of Piraeus where he also served as Chairman of the Department of Management (1984-86) and Rector (1987-1990).  Today he is Professor Emeritus of the University of Piraeus.

In November 1986 he joined TOYOTA Hellas as Executive Vice Chairman and from 1989 to 2000 he was the Chairman and CEO.   

In January 2001 he joined Toyota Motor Marketing Europe as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.  In June 2004 he was named Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation and Executive Vice-President of Toyota Motor Europe. In June 2006 he retired from active duty and has been assigned a new role of Senior Executive Advisor of Toyota Motor Europe.
